Pediatric Dentistry in Markham
Specialist dental care for infants, children, and teens, in a calm, welcoming space where kids actually look forward to their visit.

Children aren’t just small adults. Their teeth, their jaws, and the way they experience a dental visit all call for a different kind of care, and a good deal of patience. At Smile Studio Dental, pediatric dentistry is led by Dr. Aman Bhojani, a certified specialist in pediatric dentistry who has completed years of additional training focused entirely on treating kids, including those who feel nervous or have special healthcare needs.
From your baby’s very first tooth through the busy teenage years, our goal is simple: keep your child’s smile healthy, and make the dentist a place they feel comfortable rather than a place they dread. We explain everything in words your child understands, work at their pace, and turn each visit into a good experience they can build on. Kids who feel safe at the dentist tend to grow into adults who keep their appointments.
Everything about the visit is set up with young patients in mind: a calm waiting area, a team that’s good with children, and appointments that don’t feel rushed, so there’s room for questions. Whether it’s a first checkup, a nervous return visit, or urgent help after a playground tumble, families across Markham and nearby come to us to make it easy.

Why see a pediatric specialist?
Training built around kids
Dr. Bhojani completed a full residency in pediatric dentistry on top of dental school, so he’s trained specifically in how children grow, heal, and behave in the chair.
A gentle, kid’s-pace approach
We show and explain each step in child-friendly language and never rush. Children relax when they know what’s coming and feel a sense of control.
Prevention first
Sealants, fluoride, and good habits started early head off cavities before they begin, so visits stay short and low-stress.
Comfort for anxious children
For kids who feel uneasy, we offer calming techniques and age-appropriate sedation options, delivered safely and with a parent close by.
Experience with special needs
Dr. Bhojani holds additional fellowship training in caring for children with developmental and medical complexities, so every child is welcome here.
Care that grows with your child
Children’s dental needs change quickly, and our care changes with them.
In the infant and toddler years, we focus on that all-important first visit, teething comfort, and coaching parents on wiping and brushing tiny teeth. Catching habits early — like prolonged bottle or thumb use — heads off bigger problems down the road.
For school-age children, sealants and fluoride are the main defence against cavities, while regular checkups keep an eye on how the bite is developing and flag any spacing or alignment worth watching as the adult teeth come in.
The teenage years bring their own priorities: sports guards, wisdom-tooth monitoring, and the cosmetic details that matter so much at that age. We keep teens involved in their own oral health so the good habits carry into adulthood.
Children’s dental services we offer
First visits & infant exams
We recommend a first checkup by age one. It’s a short, friendly visit to spot early issues and help you feel confident caring for those new teeth.
Cleanings & fluoride
Gentle cleanings and fluoride keep young teeth strong and let us track how your child’s smile is developing over time.
Dental sealants
A thin protective coating over the back teeth seals out the deep grooves where cavities most often start in children.
Tooth-coloured fillings
When a cavity does appear, we restore the tooth with natural-looking, mercury-free material, with plenty of reassurance along the way.
Sedation & sleep dentistry
For longer treatment or very anxious children, safe sedation options let us complete care calmly in a single visit.
Gentle extractions & space maintainers
If a baby tooth has to come out early, we do it gently and can hold the space so the adult tooth comes in where it should.
Sports & night guards
Custom-fitted guards protect growing smiles during sports and ease the night-time grinding that’s common in kids.
Children’s dental emergencies
Knocked-out tooth, bad toothache, or a hard fall? Call us. We keep room for urgent problems and walk you through what to do next.
Your child’s first visit, step by step
Not sure what to expect? Here’s how a first visit usually goes.
Book and share the details
Tell us your child’s age and anything worth knowing — allergies, past experiences, or worries. We plan the visit around them.
A warm welcome
Your child meets the team, sees the room, and looks at the tools before anything happens, so nothing comes as a surprise.
A gentle exam
Dr. Bhojani counts teeth, checks the bite and gums, and explains what he sees in a way your child can follow.
Cleaning and fluoride
We clean away plaque, apply fluoride, and show your child (and you) brushing and flossing tips that actually stick.
Talking it through
We review everything with you, point out anything to watch, and answer your questions without rushing or jargon.
A plan and a high-five
You leave with a clear plan, a date for the next visit, and a child who feels proud of how it went.
Care led by Dr. Aman Bhojani
Your child’s care is led by Dr. Aman Bhojani, a certified pediatric dentistry specialist. He earned his dental degree at the University of Toronto and went on to complete advanced pediatric residencies in Toronto and Rochester, New York, along with a fellowship in caring for children with developmental needs.
Parents and kids warm to his easy, patient manner quickly. He treats every child as if they were his own, with plenty of stories and high-fives along the way. He brings specialist pediatric expertise to families right here in Markham.

Helping your child feel at ease
A little preparation goes a long way. Before the visit, it helps to:
- Keep it positive: talk about the dentist as a friendly helper who keeps teeth strong.
- Book a morning appointment, when younger children are rested and most cooperative.
- Read a favourite dentist-themed book or watch a fun video together beforehand.
- Bring a comfort item; a stuffed animal or favourite toy is always welcome in the chair.
- Let our team do the talking during the visit, so your child hears calm, familiar cues.
- Use easy words at home and let us introduce anything new in kid-friendly language.
Care your whole family can access
Every child deserves great dental care. We’re glad to welcome new patients and families, and we accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) along with most insurance. Not sure what’s covered? Our front desk will happily walk you through it before your first visit.
Frequently Asked Questions
At what age should my child first see the dentist?
The Canadian Dental Association recommends a first visit within six months of the first tooth appearing, or by their first birthday. Early visits catch problems sooner and help your child get comfortable with the dentist.
Are baby teeth really that important?
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for the adult teeth, help your child chew and speak clearly, and guide the permanent teeth into place. Cavities in baby teeth can also cause pain and infection, so they’re well worth protecting.
How often should my child have a checkup?
Most children do well with a checkup and cleaning every six months, but Dr. Bhojani may suggest a different schedule based on your child’s needs and cavity risk.
Is dental sedation safe for children?
When it’s provided by trained professionals and matched to your child, sedation is a safe, well-established way to help kids through longer or more involved treatment. We review the options with you and monitor your child closely throughout.
What if my child is scared of the dentist?
That’s completely normal, and it’s exactly what pediatric training is for. We move at your child’s pace, explain things simply, and use gentle techniques (and sedation when it’s needed) to build trust visit by visit.
Do you accept the CDCP and new patients?
Yes — we welcome new patients and families, and we accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan along with most insurance plans. Contact us and we’ll help you get started.
My child chipped or knocked out a tooth — what should I do?
Call us right away. For a knocked-out permanent tooth, keep it moist in milk or your child’s saliva and come in as soon as you can. We keep room in the day for children’s emergencies.
How can I help prevent cavities at home?
Brush twice a day with a rice-grain to pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste, help with flossing until your child can do it well on their own, go easy on sugary drinks and sticky snacks, and keep up regular checkups so small problems are caught early.
When will my child get their adult teeth?
The first adult molars and lower front teeth usually appear around age six, and most permanent teeth are in by the early teens. We track this at every visit and let you know if anything looks out of sequence.
